Mahindra Mini-Truck For the U.S.?

India Based Manufacturer Preparing To Enter US Truck Market

With most manufactures redesigning their current truck lineup with a larger out look, the once all too common mini trucks have been faded out in favor of the mid to full size ranges. Chevy and Ford have played with the idea of mini truck concepts for the future but nothing but hearsay and rough sketches have turned up.

Mini Truckin’ has described the truck as “not going to win any beauty contests”. For the most part that is true. This truck is designed to be a work horse, with old and some what out-of-date rope hooks on the outside of the bed. Mini Truckin’ also did their own investigating on what engine could be avaible for this truck since the press kit they were provided wasn’t very imformative:

“While the press kit didn’t have many details on the engine, a little Googling came up with a 2.6 liter turbodiesel 4-cylinder sold in other markets that produces approximately 109 horsepower and 188 lb./ft. of torque. But seeing as emissions standards are virtually non-existent in India, there’s a good chance we’ll either get an all-new engine, or a heavily revised version of this one to meet tight US smog standards.”

Will this mini-truck make it state side in as a 2009 model? Will it even enter the U.S. market at all? We’ll have to wait and see.
